Storm Drain Murals

Mark your calendar for this year’s UpStream Art mural installation: Saturday, August 25! Community members are invited to watch as artists paint five murals on the ground to promote stormwater quality and pollution prevention. It’s a free event, fun for the whole family. This year’s theme is “It’s All Connected.” The 2018 UpStream Art project is sponsored in part by Springfield Utility Board. Local artists have already been selected to participate in the 2018 UpStream Art project.

What: UpStream Art live mural painting
When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m on Saturday, August 25
Where: Booth-Kelly trailhead of the Mill Race path, 307 S. 5th Street, Springfield

The UpStream Art project has allowed for local artists to create unique murals on storm drains in downtown Springfield. View a map of storm drain mural locations. The murals raise awareness of the importance of storm drains and their connection to our rivers. Pollutants such as oil, trash, and pet waste are harmful to water quailty and aquatic life. Everyone can protect local waterways through simple, everday actions.
